White Christmas In Ohio: Here Are Chances Dreams Will Come

Forecasters have predicted if Christmas 2019 will be snowy.

CLEVELAND — If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas in Ohio, chances are you’re going to be disappointed.

Forecasters have delved into historical records to figure out where snow is likely to fall on the holiday and, although it’s certainly possible, Ohio is not expected to be a winter wonderland.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration built an interactive map to figure out which regions of the United States will have the snowiest Christmas, based on climatological measurements taken over the last three decades.

The data from the forecast tool suggests that there is an 40 percent chance that snow will fall on Christmas Day in Northeast Ohio. The chance of snow is worse in more southern portions of Ohio.

AccuWeather’s meteorologists give Ohio a better chance at seeing some flakes. The group said a warm period is expected to melt off any snow prior to the holiday, but Lake Erie could generate a few Christmas flakes for towns near the lake.

“I do not see snow on the ground around the I-95 corridor, especially from New York City on south,” said agency forecaster Paul Pastelok.

“Chances for a white Christmas are low.”

AccuWeather says snow this year appears set to fall in the West, the Plains and the Midwest.

The National Weather Service doesn’t give its prediction until much closer to the big day.
