Winter Storm: Here's How Cleveland Prepares

The city has 45 plow trucks salting the road in advance of a storm that could drop eight inches of snow on Northeast Ohio.

CLEVELAND, OH — With much of Northeast Ohio under a Winter Weather Advisory, the city of Cleveland is pulling out all the stops to prepare for the approaching winter storm. There are currently 45 plow trucks busily salting the streets before eight inches of snow falls between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

The salting efforts is focusing on main drags, bridges, hills and other "critical locations" the city said on its website. There is more than 9,800 tons of salt in Cleveland's possession.

Once the snow starts to fall in earnest, trucks will switch to plow mode and begin clearing streets. Trucks are tracked with vehicle locators that allow the city to deploy its fleet efficiently and where its most needed.
