Woman Killed In I-480 Car Crash On Christmas Eve

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a car went off the on-ramp, crashed through the embankment and then smashed into a dividing wall.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, OH — A woman was killed in a car crash on I-480 and SR 176 in Brooklyn Heights on Christmas Eve. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still investigating what caused the accident.

At 3:40 p.m., a 2016 Hyundai Sonata was on the I-480 on-ramp, from Brook Park Road east, when the car went off the ramp, down a grassy area, through an embankment and then hit a dividing wall.

The driver of the Sonata was Alexis Robinson, 35. She was rushed to MetroHealth Hospital but was then pronounced dead.

The Patrol said Robinson was not wearing her seat belt. Investigators do not yet know what Robinson's condition was before the crash, or what caused the Sonata to go off the ramp. The accident is still under investigation.

The Patrol was helped by the Brooklyn Heights police and fire departments. Interstate towing pulled the Sonata from the crash site.
