Woman Killed While Stopping Argument About Dogs: Police

Cleveland police said a 68-year-old woman was shot to death by her neighbor on Monday.

CLEVELAND — A 68-year-old woman was shot to death during an argument about dogs on Monday afternoon in Cleveland, police said.

An animal control officer working on Gorman Avenue reported finding a wounded woman at 5:20 p.m. When officers arrived, the woman was on the front lawn of a house. She had been shot in the head and body.

The woman was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Members of the Cleveland police homicide unit went to the home on Gorman where the woman was found. Investigators believe the woman was shot by her 80-year-old neighbor.

The 80-year-old and another neighbor were arguing about each other's dogs when the woman tried to intervene, police said. The 80-year-old pulled out a gun and shot her multiple times, according to investigators.

The 80-year-old was taken into custody by police without incident. The shooting is still under investigation.
