World Reacts To Browns First Victory Since 2016

Northeast Ohioans waited years to see their team win a game. On Thursday, the world saw a team reborn (and JR Smith shirtless...again.)

CLEVELAND — Six different Marvel movies have come out since December 24, 2016. That's a strange way to mark time, but the ever-present Marvel cinematic universe has shifted dramatically since the Browns' last victory. While Thanos changed things for Iron Man, Baker Mayfield finally (finally!) changed things for Cleveland.

The Cleveland Browns won their first game since Christmas Eve 2016 on Thursday night, beating the New York Jets 21-17. Mayfield was inserted into the game late in the first half, when the Jets were up 14-0. He led his team on a 21-3 run. It was good enough for a win.

After the game, when Bud Light's Victory Fridges, stocked with free beer, opened in Cleveland, and fans celebrated in their homes and in the streets, the world elbowed in and took note. This was a cool moment, they told us. Adam Schefter quipped that six Marvel movies had passed between Browns wins (as we mentioned above); WWE's the Miz popped open his private Bud Light Victory Fridge; and the world saw that Baker was ready for a Hall of Fame jacket.

Oh, and JR Smith went shirtless again. That was pretty cool.

Thursday night's game was cathartic for Northeast Ohioans. It was theater for others. See the reactions below.
