1. Charles 'Chuck' Juillerat, Columbiana, Ohio (wkbn.com) — Family, friends, and neighbors in Columbiana are being invited to honor Charles "Chuck" Juillerat, 77, with calling hours Friday evening and Saturday morning at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, followed by an 11 a.m. service. The longtime Reichard foreman and American Legion member will be buried at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, with military honors recognizing his service.
2. Columbiana County Retired Teachers' Association September meeting (morningjournalnews.com) — Retired teachers from Columbiana County recently met in Lisbon and agreed to continue offering $500 classroom grants for local public school teachers, with applications going to superintendents by October 1. Members also handled dues reminders, welcomed new members, enjoyed a humor-focused program, and scheduled their next noon meeting for October 15 at Lisbon First United Methodist Church.
3. High School Sports Roundup from Sept. 29 (vindy.com) — Columbiana High School's volleyball team stayed perfect at 15-0 with a sweep of Valley Christian, led by standout performances from Ava Marks and teammates. Columbiana runners also turned in strong showings at the Columbiana County cross country meet, where both boys and girls teams placed well against regional rivals.
4. Columbiana County steps up mosquito testing after two West Nile cases in 3 years (wtov9.com) — Columbiana County health officials are ramping up mosquito control after confirming West Nile virus in local mosquito testing and two human cases in three years. Residents can drop off up to ten scrap tires for free this Saturday morning at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds and pick up complimentary mosquito-control products to reduce standing water around their homes.
5. YBI dedicates building to Columbiana manufacturing company leader (wfmj.com) — A Columbiana businessman, Mark Lamoncha of Humtown Products, has been honored with a Youngstown Business Incubator building dedicated in his family's name for advancing manufacturing innovation. The recognition follows his recent National Small Business Week award and underscores Columbiana's role in the Mahoning Valley's growing tech-driven manufacturing scene.
