Columbus outperforming rest of U.S. in home sales, report finds (nbc4i.com) — Columbus homebuyers are seeing a busier market than most of the country, with July home sales up 6% year-over-year across central Ohio and a median price around $350,000. Local housing advocates say increased inventory and zoning efforts are helping, but warn that affordability remains a major challenge for many Columbus families still shut out of homeownership.

Community leaders, mentors induct new students at CCPSB Tie-Tying Ceremony (abc6onyourside.com) — New middle schoolers at Columbus City Preparatory School for Boys were officially welcomed this week through the school's 17th annual Tie-Tying Ceremony, a tradition held in Columbus. Students practiced tying neckties while reflecting on values like accountability and respect, symbolically being "tied" into the Falcon community with support from local leaders and mentors.
3. Central Ohio Army veteran recalls 9/11 attack on Pentagon (nbc4i.com) — A Columbus-area Army veteran who was stationed near the Pentagon on 9/11 is sharing his vivid memories of the attack and its aftermath with today's Central Ohio community. Now living in Plain City and coaching youth softball in Dublin, he reflects on the tragedy, the long recovery work, and the sense of unity he remembers from the days that followed.
4. Bexley mayor resigning to lead regional housing coalition with Columbus Partnership (dispatch.com) — Bexley Mayor Ben Kessler is stepping down September 30 to lead a new Regional Housing Coalition under the Columbus Partnership, working closely with Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther on housing needs across the metro area. His move is intended to jump‑start a previously slow‑moving regional effort to add housing in Columbus and its suburbs while Bexley plans a smooth mayoral transition.
5. SPJ selects six journalists for 2026 Dori Maynard Diversity Leadership Program (spj.org) — Columbus will host the Society of Professional Journalists' SPJ26 convention Oct. 1–4, bringing six Dori Maynard Diversity Leadership fellows and many other journalists to the city. The fellows, chosen for their community-focused reporting and leadership potential, will attend sessions, networking events, and leadership discussions while spotlighting diversity and ethical journalism.
