• Columbus officer returns to duty after investigation into off-duty conduct (10tv.com) — A Columbus police officer previously under investigation for an off-duty Short North incident is already back on regular patrol, even though the police chief has not yet issued a disciplinary decision. The officer, on the force since 2022, was on desk duty during the probe and was never criminally charged. His return to full duty came on September 11.
• Police: Bicyclist seriously injured in south Columbus hit-and-run involving pickup truck (10tv.com) — A bicyclist was critically hurt but later stabilized after a hit-and-run crash Sunday morning at Lockbourne Road and Lawrence Drive in south Columbus. Police say the Ford F-150 driver initially fled but was found and arrested about a mile away on Miller Avenue. Investigators are still gathering information and are asking Columbus residents with tips to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
• School's back. Here's what K-12 reporter Cole Behrens is following. (dispatch.com) — Columbus families face another school year shaped by fallout from a costly Columbus City Schools insurance deal that could leave the district tens of millions short and weighing more cuts. A shelved Columbus State levy, looming school tax issues, and enrollment and funding challenges across central Ohio mean local parents, students, and taxpayers should watch their districts' finances and November ballot closely.
