• Columbus Climate Action: Youth Grants, Zoning Updates, and Sustainability News (news-usa.today) — Columbus is offering nearly $50,000 in Youth Climate Action Fund microgrants for local groups ages 15–24, with applications open through October 23 for projects starting in 2027. At the same time, the city is overhauling its 70-year-old zoning code and asking residents to weigh in by October 24, while also expanding tree planting and celebrating local sustainability leaders.
   

• Shooting on Columbus' West Side leaves 1 person dead (kentucky.com) — One person died after a Tuesday evening shooting near North Burgess Avenue and Grace Street on Columbus' West Side, just north of West Broad Street. Columbus police say the victim was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and pronounced dead shortly after, with investigators still working to determine what happened and who was involved.
   

• Fallen Ohio airman Tyler Simmons remembered for his smile, service and love on 29th birthday (10tv.com) — Family, friends, and fellow airmen in Columbus gathered at the Linden War Memorial to honor Master Sgt. Tyler Simmons on what would have been his 29th birthday, adding his name to the memorial and releasing balloons. The Columbus native's parents announced plans for a street dedication and a new foundation to support skating events, scholarships, and ROTC students in his memory.
