Blacklick Veteran Honored for #StillServing Community

Blacklick veteran Edwin Robinson is being recognized in the national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign for his dedication to country and community. The #StillServing campaign calls attention to the many veterans who continue to serve after their time in the military.

Robinson served in the U.S. Army where he earned a Bronze Star while deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Like many veterans, Robinson continued to feel the call to serve after the military so upon retirement, he immediately immersed himself in helping his community. He currently is junior vice commander at the VFW Post in Columbus where he orchestrates events in support of local veterans and chief finance officer for Nehemiah House of Refugee, a nonprofit that provides vital resources to men returning to society after being incarcerated or homeless. As CFO, Robinson oversees the Fathers Giving Back Scholarship Program for men seeking to better themselves through education. He also serves as an elder and plays saxophone and bass in the band at Eastpointe Christian Church.

Robinson says he wants to offer optimism to at-risk individuals by providing them with the resources to develop a positive attitude towards their future. His long-term goal is to empower men to break the behavior cycles that are leading to destruction, imprisonment or death and instead become valuable contributors to their communities, families and places of employment.
