Congress Should Protect Digital Advertising for Small Businesses
Small businesses are in a difficult environment, and Congress must not make it worse.
After a global pandemic and ahead of an economic downturn, minimizing overheads and getting maximum value from every dollar spent has never been more important. Digital advertising has helped me achieve both goals: I’ve grown my business without needing a brick-and-mortar store, and I can cost-effectively target and communicate with new and existing customers alike.
This has been a recipe for success for small businesses across the country, providing economic growth in local communities nationwide. So, it is important that those in Washington bear this in mind when drawing up new laws and regulations around data protection.
I know there has been a lot of talk about Big Tech, but what’s often forgotten in the conversation is the millions of small businesses, like mine, who rely on digital advertising to grow their business by attracting new customers through targeted ads.

As members of Ohio’s congressional delegation work to pass policies I hope they remember that for many small businesses, digital advertising is how they get the word out about their companies. In attacking digital advertising, you are attacking small businesses, the backbone of Ohio.
