Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Columbus Student
Star Student Award Recognizes Students for Achievement in and Out of the Virtual Classroom
Miracle Smith of Columbus was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s (OCA) Star Students for the month of November in recognition of her achievements and leadership in the virtual classroom.
Miracle, an 8th grader at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by her teacher Mrs. Moenich for her growth as a student and as an individual and her positive attitude towards learning. As the Star Student, Miracle will be presented a certificate recognizing her achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s web site.
As Miracle was about to enter the sixth grade, Miracle’s parents made the decision to enroll her in Ohio Connections Academy to ensure she received a good education from home with the ability to work at her own pace and access to teachers. Miracle said she right away felt very comfortable with the online platform and she likes how her teachers are always available.

“I like how the teachers are so nice and they really understand me. I also appreciate how the flexible schedule allows me to me to do more activities like dance and to volunteer at my church,” she said. “I think OCA benefits me because I have learned how to plan things and get them done without stressing out.”
Each month OCA recognizes two students in each of the four grade bands for their achievements in and out of the classroom. The following Ohio Connections Academy students were also recognized as Star Students of the Month for November:
