Students at Enchanted Care® Schools in Powell Release Ladybugs

On April 22, students celebrated Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing 1,500 beneficial bugs into their schoolyard

On Friday, April 22, students at Enchanted Care Learning Center and Enchanted Care Kids Campus in Powell explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 1,500 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students dressed for the occasion in the likeness of ladybugs, wearing red and black clothing and antennae. In addition to the ladybug release, students also participates in an Earth Day scavenger hunt and made crafts out of recycled materials.

Leading up to Earth Day, students are learning that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Enchanted Care teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
