Two Little Boys
They were scared and hungry and came to the door at The Run the Race Center.
Two Little Boys Came To the Door Today
9 and 10 years old.
It was 90 degrees out.
We just happened to be working at The Center today - we weren't planning on it but it happened.
And there they were. Hungry. Tired. Dirty. Thirsty.
We greeted them with love and food and drink.
They sat and ate. And ate.
And talked.
Mom was at the bar last night. Well, she is there every night.
But last night she got shot at. She didn't get hit. This time.
But they are scared. Worried. Sleepless.
This is why we do what we do.
These are children. Little children.
And they are afraid. And sad.
They wouldn't know how to say it - only feel it:
They have been cheated.
They need their childhoods back so they can keep their sanity.

Enriching the Lives of Children Since 2000
The Brian Muha Foundation/The Run The Race Club has been present since the year 2000 - providing exceptional enrichment and leadership development opportunities to young people in Columbus, Cleveland and Steubenville, Ohio. We give love and hope to children and young people through relationships with dedicated volunteers, mentors and tutors who offer opportunities and activities that allow them to grow academically, physically, spiritually and emotionally. We see the beautiful value and dignity in each and every child and we have made it our mission to help them run the race of life and change the world.
Our own 22,000 sq. ft. building allows us to welcome as many inner city children who want to come to a safe, cheerful, fun and loving place after school and on the weekends. We have snacks, tutoring, homework help, sports, music, art, tumbling, games, contests, parties, holiday celebrations, a library, gym, salon, a full meal every day, a food pantry and more.
