Watch: Racist Tirade After Driver Follows Columbus Black Man Home

Charles Lovett posted a video Tuesday of a man who Lovett says followed him home from an interstate exit and then went on a racist tirade.

COLUMBUS, OH — A new video appears to show a heating and cooling worker in Columbus follow a black man home and unleash a racist tirade after a dispute. Charles Lovett posted video Tuesday afternoon on Facebook of the encounter with a man seen driving a white pickup truck advertising Uriah's Heating, Cooling Refrigeration. Lovett gets out of his vehicle Tuesday morning, walks to the end of his driveway and asks the driver, "Is there a reason why you just followed me to my house?"

The driver, whose window is down, begins to back away and as he replies "I didn't follow you to your house." Lovett insists the driver followed him home and asks the man what he wants.

"I just want to let you know what a n----- you are," the driver replies in a gruff voice.

"You said what?" asked a stunned Lovett.

"I just want to let you know what a n----- you are," the driver confidently repeats, later adding "I want to let you personally know how much of a n----- you are."

The driver justifies his racist rant saying Lovett is rude and cut him off. As the two men argue about street signs and how many lanes there were on the interstate, the driver then tells Lovett he feels "entitled."

"You feel entitled because you get everything for free," the driver said.

During the rant, the driver asks Lovett whether he paid for his car, questions whether Lovett works - "You got a job?" — and questions how many hours he works every week.

"You live in a world where you feel entitled to treat people differently," the driver says. "I'm glad I'm able to tell you this, dude. Face to face."

Lovett didn't immediately respond to a Facebook message, but wrote in his Facebook post — since viewed more than 24,000 times — this sort of encounter is becoming more and more common in the U.S. recently.

"Nobody, African American Mexican Puerto Rican deserves what’s been happening to us across the United States here lately. This incident is just one of many sadly," he wrote.

An email message left with Uriah's Heating, Cooling Refrigeration wasn't immediately returned. The company's voicemail box was full.
