Akron Child Still Missing in Summit County Creek

Nic Shaffer, 12, was swept away Thursday evening and hasn't been seen since.

Akron police and fire along with Cuyahoga Falls police and fire are back out searching for a missing Akron boy who fell into Mud Brook creek.

The child fell from a wall into the creek Thursday afternoon, according to our news partner WEWS Channel 5.Β 

Nic Shaffer, 12, was sitting with his mother when he fell into the water. Several good samaritans jumped in to try and locate the teen, but were unable to find him.

Fire officials tell NewsChannel5 that the last time someone drowned in a similar area, it took several weeks to located the body.

The creek water continues running dangerously fast, but is expected to fall several feet during this weekend's drier weather.
