Fireworks Highlight Opening Day of Ice Rink at Falls River Square

Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don L. Robart proudly announces the 9^th Annual Ice Rink Opening Celebration on Saturday, November 24, 2012.  “We are delighted to continue this holiday tradition for our residents”, commented Mayor Robart. “Every year, our team adds something new and this year I am thrilled to announce that we will have fireworks to commemorate the City’s 200^th Anniversary”. 

The Ice Rink at Falls River Square is recognized throughout the region as a family-friendly destination location and this year is certainly no exception.  At 12:00 noon, on November 24^th, the rink will open for a full day of skating, shopping and entertainment for adults and kids of all ages, with the following events:

12:00 noon - 9:00 pm: FREE admission to the rink all day

12:00 noon - 6:00 pm: Holiday shopping in the Pavilion

12:30 - 5:30 pm:  FREE train rides on the Falls River Square Express

1:00 - 4:00 pm:  Visit with Santa inside the Pavilion ~ bring your cameras!

5:30 – 6:00 pm: Community Tree Lighting

To further commemorate the City’s 200^th Anniversary, the Bicentennial torch will be burning bright throughout the day.  Kids of all ages can visit with Santa from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.  A free gift will be given to each child that visits Santa, courtesy of New Day Fellowship.  Frosty the Snowman, the Grinch, a Christmas Tree and Rudolph will be at the rink spreading holiday cheer throughout the afternoon, courtesy of Cuyahoga Falls and Woodridge High School students, while Christmas carolers sing and holiday music plays at the rink. 

Start your holiday shopping at the Ice Rink!  Dozens of vendors will be in the Pavilion throughout the afternoon selling unique gift items ranging from handmade soy candles, doll and baby clothing, exquisite jewelry, Miche bags, custom-made scarves, cookies, candies, homemade donuts, children’s books, Bicentennial merchandise, Christmas ornaments, candies, chocolates and so much more!

The Snack Shack at the Ice Rink will be open daily during rink hours with hot beverages and snacks.
