Summa Western Reserve Hospital honored its nurses May 6th as part of National Nurses Week, which runs May 6 - 12.
Summa Western Reserve Hospital honored its nurses May 6th as part of National Nurses Week, which runs May 6 - 12.
The week, which consists of National Nurses Day on May 6Β and nursing pioneer, Florence Nightingaleβs birthday on May 12 features numerous events for the nursing staff as well as an award presentation and luncheon.
On May 6, the Summa Western Reserve Hospital nursing staff enjoyed chair massages and light refreshments throughout the day. A representative of Mary Kay was also on site to provide satin hand treatments for the staff. Highlighting the dayβs events was a special Nursing Awards Presentation and Luncheon to recognize all of the hospitalβs Nursing Excellence nominees and Nursing Excellence winners.

This yearβs nursing excellence award winners include:
- Cameos of Caring winner, Suzanne Yee, BSN,RN, CCRN of Akron, OH
- Excellence in Nursing Practice, Sigma Theta Tau International winner, Catherine Mason, BSN, RN of Silver Lake, OH
- Excellence In Nursing winners, Lana Broda, RN of UnNiontown, OHΒ and Mark Pallante, RN of Cuyahoga Falls, OH
- Preceptor winner, Deb Armprester, RN of Streetsboro, OH
- Rookie winner, Eric McFall, RN of Uniontown, OH
- Support Staff winner, Mike Uber, Paramedic of Munroe Falls, OH
