City Council Elections 2011: Ward 2 Candidate Mary Ellen Pyke

Name: Mary Ellen Pyke

Age: 52

Occupation: Medical Technologist for Summa Health Systems.

Education: Graduated in 1981 from the University of Akron in medical technology, Cuyahoga Falls High School 1977 graduate.

Candidate Statement:

As a lifetime resident of Ward 2 in Cuyahoga Falls, Mary Ellen Pyke is running for re-election this fall for the Ward 2 seat on city council.

Aside from infrastructure, Pyke said those elected this fall, need experience to make tough decisions coming down the pipeline following state budget cuts.

“I think of the biggest things that we’re going to face in the future is the loss of revenues that we’re going to have,” Mary Ellen Pkye said, Ward 2 city council incumbent.

“We’re not going to see that in our general fund. And I don’t know if people realize, the general fund is how we pay our police, our fire, it’s how we get our streets resurfaced.”

“We’re going to making very difficult decisions and we’re going to have to have people on council who can make those decisions,” she added.
