Cuyahoga Falls: Police Blotter

Fake eBay auctioneer and sandwiches swiped from Sheetz. The latest crime from Jan. 27-Jan. 31.

A resident of the 2000 block of 25th Street reported early Jan. 29 that she sent $1,500 to a seller on eBay, a popular online shopping and auction website, to purchase a Polaris all-terrain vehicle. In addition to the $1,500, the victim paid a $92 service fee. The so-called seller turned out to be a fraud, costing the victim a total of $1,592. The has a few leads on the case, but no suspects.

Between 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. Friday, an unknown suspect removed a set of car keys from an unlocked locker at the Natatorium and stole the victim's black 2011 Chevy Equinox from the gym's parking lot. The vehicle was later found unoccupied, but the keys were not recovered.

A man living on the 1100 block of Tallmadge Road reported early Jan. 27 that someone used his name and social security number in June 2010 to receive medical care at the Cleveland Clinic. The victim continues to receive bills in the amount of $216 for the identity thief's treatment.

Theft:

  • A resident living in an apartment complex on Center Avenue reported Jan. 26 that someone entered the apartment building's laundry room and removed his shaving kit containing a diabetes testing supplies and various prescription medication tablets. The accumulated value of the items stolen is $150.
  • A victim reported Jan. 28 that an unknown suspect used his debit card numbers to purchase $32.00 worth of groceries at the Circle K gas station located at 2386 Bailey Road.
  • At 3:40 p.m. Jan. 29, a Sheetz employee reported that Jeffrey A. Arp stole two sandwiches from the store located at 1210 Main Street. Arp was later located by the Akron Police Department and the missing sandwiches, valued at $7.98, were returned.Β

  • $2,500 worth of copper pipe was removed from a vacant residence on the 1800 block of Sedro Street. The suspect possibly entered the house through an unlocked garage and removed approximately 50 feet of pipe before fleeing. The property is owned by CitiFinancial.

Criminal Damaging:

  • Between 5 and 9 p.m. Jan. 28, an unknown suspect smashed in the rear window of a silver 2005 Dodge Durango parked at 1710 Front Street. The total damage could cost $500 to repair.
