Declaration of Independence signer topic of March 12 Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society meeting

Barb Baltrinic, a descendant of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, will be the featured speaker at the Weds., March 12 meeting of the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society at 7 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St.

Baltrinic, a Munroe Falls resident, educator and author, wrote the historical novel, “A Founder for All,” the story of her ancestor, Abraham Clark, who rose from the position of land surveyor to delegate for the Continental Congress.

According to the author, “Abraham Clark doesn’t have the stamina for farm life. Instead he starts his adult life as a land surveyor, then follows his passion of being a ‘poor man’s counselor.’ Eventually his reputation as a fair and honest man who vocally supports patriotism, leads him to Philadelphia where he signs the Declaration of Independence. This biographical story follows Abraham, and his home state of New Jersey, throughout the Revolutionary War and through the early formation of the new government. Abraham’s unending role in public service guaranteed the common man would receive fair treatment from his government.”

The meeting, which will be held in the Sutliff meeting room in the library’s lower level, is free and open to the public.
