Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology promotes community job growth through affordable, accredited program

Pharmacy practice is undergoing a huge transition nationwide. The American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) provides patients with better access to pharmacy services by incorporating pharmacists into medical teams. These efforts should help reduce readmission rates, provide better coordination of care and improve quality scores for Cleveland Clinic community hospitals.

To support pharmacists' transitions into patient-centered roles, Cleveland Clinic started the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program in April 2011. As only one of four accredited hospital-based programs in the country, pharmacy technicians are appropriately trained, educated, and prepared to manage non-clinical pharmacy operations.

Pharmacy technology is a vocational practice, and certified pharmacy technicians are in high demand. Students pay justΒ $3,000 in tuition for a six month program, which includes books, uniforms, lab fees and supplies.

To learn more about the program, Cleveland Clinic is hosting a free information session on Oct. 18 at Cleveland Clinic's Glickman Great Hall from 4-7 p.m. Get additional program details.
