The speaker will be historical society member Dale Leach, who will give a slide presentation featuring early 1900s photographs and postcard depictions of Cuyahoga Falls, as well as several Front Street mall photographs by local resident Denny Reiser. Earlier this year, Leach, who also serves as program chairman for the historical society, gave a popular program featuring images of historic homes in Cuyahoga Falls.

The meeting, which is free and open to the public, is held in the library’s downstairs meeting room.

Looking ahead to next month, on Weds., Nov. 14, Kelly D. Selby, Ph.D., assistant professor of history at Walsh University, will give a presentation on β€œOhio Women and the Civil War Home Front.” According to Selby, the political and military role that Ohio played in the Union’s victory is widely known. However, less understood is the vital contribution that Ohio women made to the war effort. Selby’s presentation will spotlight Ohio women’s activities on the home front, focusing largely on Soldiers Aid Societies and the Sanitary Fairs in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
