Last summer, McClure purchased a set of more than 60 postcards from a local antiques dealer – cards that were all mailed during the summer of 1909. Upon examining the cards further, she noticed that all the cards were sent from the same young man from Cuyahoga Falls to his college sweetheart in Columbus.

The young man – identified only by his nickname β€œDoc” – was clearly smitten with Maggie, as he sent up to two or three postcards a day, in addition to letters and gifts.

During the presentation, McClure will show Doc’s postcards, as well as excerpts of his descriptions of life in Cuyahoga Falls at that time. At the end of the presentation, the audience will Β learn who Doc and Maggie were, what became of the couple, and discover Doc’s ties to a well-known local family.
