Chances are you’ve been seeing a lot in the media lately about the Flood of 1913. If you’d like to know more about this historic and catastrophic event – including its impact on Cuyahoga Falls, make plans to attend the next meeting of the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society on Weds., April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St.


Speaker for the meeting will be Dale Leach, who will give a presentation on the Flood of 1913 – including its impact on Cuyahoga Falls. The flood, which affected Ohio and more than a dozen other states, was the most devastating natural disaster in Ohio history.

It is estimated that during the five-day period from March 23-27, 1913, the state had 8-11 inches of rainfall – or the equivalent of what would typically fall over a period of two to three months.


The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the library’s downstairs Sutliff meeting room.
