According to Colopy, βCemeteries are central to a community as early parks, safe places for the departed, and when βdisasterβ strikes, the community connection becomes all-important. Historic and beautiful Glendale Cemetery tells the story of a community. The memorial art symbolizes, love, joy, sadness and sacrifice.β
Glendale Cemetery is noted for its rolling hills, stunning monuments and impressive mausoleums β many of which are modeled after early Greek and Roman temples or Gothic churches. The cemetery also features several structures that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places β including a Civil War Memorial Chapel that is considered one of the most outstanding examples in the nation.
