Expect Big Crowd for Ekoostik Hookah at Rockin' on the River
Psychedelic jam band holds record for crowd size at Rockin' on the River.
The Fourth of July weekend kicks off Friday with Rockin' on the River, featuring popular jam band Ekoostik Hookah.
The band's website describes Ekoostik Hookah as "the nucleus of a family drawn to its lucid, improvisational treatment of psychedelic rock ’n’ roll, blues, funk, jazz and bluegrass layered with rich harmonies."
Formed in 1991, Ekoostik Hookah has built a large following, and its annual Hookaville festivals have drawn well in excess of 100,000 people, promoters say.

The Uptown Cats start things off at Rockin' on the River, with a long play list of funk, R&B, standards ranging from the 1970s to the '90s and beyond.
