Students at will notice some changes when they return to class in the fall.
In addition to freshly painted walls and new bookshelves and carpeting, the computer lab on the south end of the main room of the library will be moved to the area that now holds general-circulation books.
“The original emphasis was to move the computer lab from the main room where it is now," said Len DeChant, director of business and operations for the school district. "We had the lab in the middle of where everything was going on. It just keeps things out of the general flow of the library."

Unlike the previous setup, which at times forced students to share computers, the new computer lab for both individual study and class instruction will allow a teacher to bring a full class to the lab, and have a dedicated computer for each student, he said.
Part of a 1960 addition to the high school, the 6,820 sq.-ft. library will also be getting new, 60-inch bookshelves to replace the 89-inch shelves that now hold general-circulation books. The lower height of the new shelves will also better allow the librarian to keep an eye on students.
