Falls Man Faces Charges for Threatening a Mother and Child With Gun

A woman called at about 10 p.m. March 26 to report her brother-in-law was threatening her and her son with a firearm.
When officers arrived at the apartment, in the 4300 block of Winter Parkway, Gerald Davis, 43, told police he had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana while handling the gun. Davis was arrested and charged with inducing panic, aggravated menacing, drug abuse and operating a weapon while under the influence.

Stephanie Wintermute, 25, of Collinwood Avenue in Akron, was arrested March 28 at the Giant Eagle, 75 Graham Road, and charged with 17 counts of deception to obtain drugs, 16 counts of illegal processing of drug documents and one count of drug possession.
A Giant Eagle pharmacist contacted police after Wintermute submitted 24 fraudulent prescriptions for Percocet, a narcotic pain reliever. Officers arrested her when she returned to the grocery store pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions. Police searched Wintermute's vehicle and found a number of falsified prescriptions and stolen prescription pads.

Resisting arrest:
Brandon Fischbach, 27, of 19th Street, was arrested at Lehigh Avenue and Maplecrest Street at 3 a.m. Sunday morning after assaulting an off-duty police officer and resisting arrest. The officer was not seriously injured.
Theft:
- Early March 30, a man reported $54,000 in silver U.S. coins missing from the basement of a residence on the 2500 block of 15th Street. The man provided police with a number of leads and plans to prosecute.
- Police arrested Edward Wolfe, a 41-year-old resident of Evans Avenue in Akron, just before midnight on March 30 on one charge of theft and disorderly conduct after Wolfe attempted to steal items from the Sheraton Hotel, 1989 Front St. Hotel employees contacted police and prevented Wolfe from leaving until officers arrived. Wolfe pushed several hotel staff members in an attempt to flee.
- Michael and Joyce Oddo, both 55, of Myrtle Avenue, were arrested for theft just after 11 a.m. April 2 when a Giant Eagle loss prevention employee witnessed the couple remove more than $130 worth of groceries from the store, 230 Howe Ave., without paying.
