Former Falls Finance Director Dies

Duane N. Scott, who died March 2 at age 81, served the in the 1960s and 1970s before becoming director of the Ohio Municipal Advisory Council.

After retiring from OMAC  in 1992, Scott began a 12-year stretch on Silver Lake City Council.

A 23-year resident of Silver Lake, he was first elected in 1993 to represent District D.  He served as president of council before deciding not to file for re-election in 2005.

Scott grew up in Cuyahoga Falls. He graduated from in 1947 and received the school’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999.

After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from .

He served on .

 Scott was a past president of the Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club and recipient of its Melvin Jones Award.

 Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lucille; daughters, Teresa Lance of Cuyahoga Falls and Sandra of Green; son, Christopher of Silver Lake; five grandchildren; his sister, Diane Foglesong of Stow; and brother, Don of Dallas.
