Golden Dragon Rollin' at Rockin' on the River

Golden Dragon, a staple of the Cuyahoga Falls community since the late 1980s, is owned and operated by the Pung family. This summer, the Dragon spread its wings and joined Rockin’ on the River.

Meng, the eldest Pung brother, runs the new operation. Pung said it’s a fun atmosphere and opportunity for the next generation of Pungs to get involved with the family business.

Golden Dragon’s stand offers Chinese and Japanese fare. The menu includes: sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, egg roll, fried rice, California roll, spicy tuna roll and the sushi special of the week.

Pung hears shout-outs from the crowd and sees many familiar faces each week. Regular customers introduce friends to Pung and Golden Dragon when they stop by. Pung hopes the exposure at Rockin' will lure new diners to the family restaurant.

For the first two weeks, the sushi was made at the restaurant, boxed up and taken to the booth. The sushi is now prepared fresh at the stand. Mama Pung suggested the change because she didn’t want the premade rolls to seem like supermarket rolls. “Now we make it on the spot,” Pung explained.

Pung has been impressed with the concerts and enjoys hearing live music while he works. “Bob Earley has done a great job organizing the events,” added Pung. 

Lesley Phillips, a Rockin’ and Dragon regular, was thrilled to find the new booth. Phillips said, “The prices are very reasonable for fresh, good food. Sushi is a great alternative to greasy food.”

Phillips added, “I hope they do really well. We want to see them come back next year.”

Their stand is located near the main stage and water fountain. Stop by to say hello and grab a bite. The Pung family will greet you with warm smiles and tasty food.
