Good Samaritans Thwart Burglary; Stolen Guns; Timeshare Scam; and Grand Theft Auto

Neighbors thwart attempted burglary

On Nov. 11, two Cuyahoga Falls residents spotted a suspicious character walking up to a residence in the 1600 block of 13th St. As they approached the home to investigate, they heard a loud bang and quickly confronted the young man who was trying to break through a side door. The would-be burglar immediately ran, threw his bike over the back fence of the property and rode off into the Quirk Cultural Center parking lot. There are several witnesses and Cuyahoga Falls Police are investigating.

Grand theft Chrysler

A purple 1998 Chrysler Concorde was stolen from RadAir, located at 1200 W. Portage Tr. in Akron on Nov. 9. An employee of the auto store reported the company car was valued at $3,500.

Stolen guns

On Nov. 9, two rifles, a handgun and several hundred rounds of ammunition were stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 1900 block of Victoria Street. The car owner reported the theft occurred in his driveway. Total loss: $4,500.

Timeshare scamΒ 

On Nov. 8, a Tyler Avenue resident told police she was swindled out of nearly $3,000 by a con man who sold her a phony Florida vacation timeshare. Police are investigating.

Phantom landscaper

An unknown man walked up to a woman’s Tudor Street home on Nov. 8 and offered to rake her leaves. She paid the man $40 up front, and he immediately left without doing the work. According to the police report, the woman does not wish to prosecute.

Falls home burglarized

A woman living in the 1900 block of Searl Street called police after her house was reportedly burglarized on Nov. 8. Jewelry and a computer were reported missing. Total loss: $6,200.Β
