Woodridge School Levy Failure Could Mean Layoffs and Salary Cuts
The levy would have helped to close a $10.6 budget gap. Now cuts will have to solve the problem, school district says.

It was a close race all evening Tuesday, but in the end, the 's 6.83-mill emergency levy failed by 249 votes.
If it had been approved, Issue 10, a five-year levy, would have raised $15 million in revenue and cost homeowners $209 per year for every $100,000 in valuation, according to treasurer Deanna Levenger.

- Widespread layoffs.
- Across-the-board cuts to the salary and benefits of all personnel.
- Cutting or eliminating academic and extracurricular services.
- Creating a tuition-based kindergarten program.
- Consolidating various school services.
- Cutting the athletic program and instituting pay-to-participate.
It's the second time this levy has failed. The district's last attempt – – failed by 224 votes.
