Man Charged in Granddaughter's Drowning Dies

Police, medical examiner don't suspect foul play.

Michael Yoder, who was facing charges in the of his baby granddaughter, has died.

Yoder was found unresponsive early Monday morning at a Buckingham Gate residence, the Falls News Press reported. He was pronounced dead at 4:32 a.m. at Akron General Medical Center.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said foul play was not suspected in Yoder's death, and the specific cause and manner of death wouldn't be known until the results of toxicology tests are found, which could take weeks to complete.

Yoder's 1-year-old granddaughter, Isabella Jones, drowned in a bathtub while unattended in March. 

Yoder was indicted in September on charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide and two counts of endangering children, one count a felony and the other a misdemeanor.
