Northampton Bridge Replacement on Schedule

Summit County engineers hope to have project completed by Nov. 11.

The closing of a portion of Northampton Road is creating an inconvenience for some local residents and delivery drivers, but the bridge replacement project over Mud Brook appears to be on schedule.

Sam Roth, an engineer with the Summit County Engineer’s Office, said the bridge is expected to be completed on Nov. 11. A big piece of that puzzle will be pouring concrete footers for the new bridge, which is expected to be done on Friday. Once that part is completed, β€œYou’ll see it go up pretty quickly,” Roth said.

Information online about the project is a bit out of date, but the particulars show that the Summit County project will cost the county about $100,000 of the total estimated $500,000 cost.

In the meantime, traffic on Northampton Road is being rerouted from Portage Trail to Akron-Peninsula Road to Theiss Road back to Northampton, and vice versa. You could also take State Road to Bath Road to reconnect with Northampton.
