Oakwood Cemetery Vandalized (Again); and Smash-and-Grab Thefts: Crime Blotter

Vandals strike again
On April 16 at 9:20 a.m., a city groundskeeper called Cuyahoga Falls police to report that more than 20 headstones had been overturned at Oakwood Cemetery.
This is the fourth time a major vandalism hasΒ occurred at the cemetery within the last 10 months.Β

In late March, vandals reportedly smashed 31 gravestones and monuments, according to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Facebook page.
Crimestoppers is offering a reward in exchange for information that leads to one or more arrests. Falls police pledged it would match the amount to increase the likelihood of finding those responsible.

As of April 22, police have no suspects or leads.

Smash-and-grab
After some sightseeing at Gorge Metro Park, a woman returned to her car and found it had been broken into. According to the police report, an unknown thief had smashed her driverβs side window and stole cash, a debit card, her purse and iPad. Estimated loss and damage: $1,500.
Sticky fingers
A woman arrived home to her Clyde Avenue apartment on April 16 and found it had been burglarized. Her electronics, valued at $1,100, were stolen, according to the police report.
Stealing from the dead
The son of a recently-deceased Cuyahoga Falls woman called poilce after discovering someone had broken into her apartment and stolen jewelry, a car title and wallet. Estimated loss: $4,000.Β
