Patch Picks: Five Cuyahoga Falls Spots to Watch the Super Bowl
Root for (or against) Steelers in good company.
The NFL season comes to its conclusion Sunday with the year’s biggest television event, Super Bowl XLV. With the Pittsburgh Steelers vying for a seventh Super Bowl ring, passions run high among Northeast Ohio football fans both for and against the Steelers. The Green Bay Packers have a few fans as well. Half the fun of the Super Bowl is being among people to watch the game, or maybe those million-dollar commercials. Here are a few nearby places to take in the game and grab a bite and a drink.
• Domenic’s – 2467 State Road. Pub fare, paninis, pool table and a high-definition big screen TV that gives you no excuse for missing any action at the Super Bowl (or the best ads). Serpentine bar and surrounding tables ensure good view no matter where you are. The patio facing State Road is not a likely destination on Super Bowl Sunday unless you need a smoke break. 330-923-9530.
• Red Fox Sports Pub and Grille. Wash down pizza, steak, salads and wraps as you watch the game on an 8-foot screen at 1767 State Road. Darts and pool table are available if the halftime show doesn’t interest you. They expect to have beer and food specials, but haven’t decided what yet. Extra parking in the rear. 330-929-2224.

• Rockne’s – The original Rockne’s has closed and its successor is moving to a new spot, but the remaining Rockne’s pubs are still there, including another Cuyahoga Falls location, at 1203 Bailey Road near Chapel Hill Mall. Popular menu items include steaks, salads, burgers and the Terminator Sub. And the bar, of course, with five TVs. 330-922-3663.
• The Boulevard – Big room features several TVs, but kitchen will be closed. Plenty of parking near the 435 Chestnut Blvd. establishment. Has a real neighborhood bar feel. 330-922-4060.

• Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grille – The Applebee’s at 508 Howe Ave. is right along the Akron-Cuyahoga Falls city line near Chapel Hill. The chain is touting its under 550 calories entrees, which might be a good thing on a national “holiday” known for overindulgence. 330-928-1500.
