Police Blotter: Paper or Plastic? Pranksters Use Both on Forestmeadow Drive

Criminal mischief

Residents on the 3200 block of Forestmeadow Drive and 100 block of Ravenshollow Drive said someone wrapped a Nissan Sentra in plastic wrap, threw toilet paper in one resident’s trees and shrubs, and placed dozens of political signs in another’s yard the night of Oct. 15-16.

Fraud

A Van Buren Avenue resident told police she received a fraudulent check for $2,890, which she deposited in her bank account on about Sept. 20, from a job she had applied for on Craigslist.com. She sent $2,549 via Western Union to an address in Georgia. The check for $2,890 bounced, and the Van Buren resident has a negative balance in her bank account. 

Disorderly conduct

 • Cortnay Ann Hughs of Akron was arrested by Cuyahoga Falls police on charges of disorderly conduct at the , 2689 State Rd., on Oct. 16.

• Joseph Bocinec of Akron was cited for disorderly conduct at about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 15. Police said Bocinec vomited and urinated on the stairs at 1750 Fourth St., then passed out in the lobby.

Identity theft

A 25th Street resident reported that his personal information was used to charge $6,431.42 on his North Akron Savings debit Visa account. He has been reimbursed by the bank.

Forgery

 • A 24th Street resident said someone took six of his personal checks and wrote checks for a total of $1,490 between Sept. 14 and Oct. 6.

 • An employee at Check Smart, 696 Howe Ave., said a woman cashed a forged check for $1,843.77 in August.
