Portage Crossing Deal Delayed by Stark Enterprises

There's a good chance Cuyahoga Falls City Council will temporarily suspend its August recess to decide if Portage Crossing developer Stark Enterprises should have more time to review a section of the land sale agreement, reports the Falls News-Press. 

The deal was scheduled to close by July 30, and the developer needs Council's approval for an extension, said Cuyahoga Falls Development Director Sue Truby.

“Stark Enterprises is waiting for one additional document before completing (the) transfer of funds,” said Truby in the local newspaper.  

In 2010, Council approved the sale of the former State Road Shopping Center property, a 25-acre tract of land that went to developer Bob Stark for $3.79 million.

In a somewhat controversial move, city officials agreed to hand 100 percent of that money back to Stark to help finalize the deal. 

If all goes as planned, the developer should start moving its equipment on site starting Aug. 12.
