Rockin' on the River This Week: Almost Queen

Northern Ohio's Skinny Moo brings some funk to the house.

This Friday's Rockin' on the River will have a distinctly '70s feel with hard/glam rock tribute band Almost Queen and eclectic funk rockers Skinny Moo filling out the lineup.

Almost Queen

New York City-based Almost Queen has the look and the sound of the original Queen. Freddy Mercury is gone, but you can relive (or experience for the first time) the pomp and pageantry of Queen. Check out video from last year's shows, including a stop at Rockin' on River. Broadway veteran Joseph Russo has Freddy Mercury's look and Steve Leonard's guitars sound convincingly like Brian May's. Skinny Moo

Skinny Moo, which has been rocking enthusiastic crowds in northern Ohio since 1999, delivers an eclectic mix of high-energy songs ranging from ’70s funk and soul to modern rock. Cleveland magazine says, "The band’s setlist may span three decades, but Skinny Moo’s funkified heart beats loudest when it’s channeling the days of doobies and discos. (And if you’ve ever seen the band roll along to the fat bass line of Wild Cherry’s 'Play That Funky Music,' you know what we mean.)"

As always, parking and admission are free.
