VIDEO Falls School Board Members Weigh In on Sharing a Superintendent with Woodridge

The Cuyahoga Falls board of education had a preliminary discussion on the possibility of sharing a superintendent with Woodridge.

At Monday night’s , board members provided a recap on a recent discussion between Woodridge Local Schools board committee members and Falls school board committee members.

On April 11, both Cuyahoga Falls School Board President Therese Dunphy and Board Member Dale Petty held a meeting with Woodridge School Board President Cheryl Hoover and Board Member Terry Heffernan to talk about potentially sharing a superintendent. This meeting was not open to the public.

“The conversations that we were having were very exploratory in nature,” Dunphy said. “It was idea bouncing and thinking about what areas could we look at where we could create more effieicienies, how could we leverage the buying power of two districts, how could we be able to deliver some of the services as a joint venture.”

Moving forward, the board agreed that Dunphy should schedule a meeting involving both school boards to discuss the matter further. A meeting date and time has not yet been confirmed.

As for searching for a permanent replacement for Ed Holland, the out-going superintendent, plans have been put on hold until the Falls school board finishes conversations with Woodridge. At that time, the board also has the option to hire an interim superintendent.

Both the Ohio School Board Association and Finding Leaders gave board members an overview of the services offered to the board at its March 28 meeting.
