VIDEO Falls Superintendent Job Offer: "Nothing Has Been Decided"

Cuyahoga Falls City Schools Superintendent Ed Holland addressed his employment status at Monday night's school board meeting.

During Monday night's board of education meeting, the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools Superintendent Ed Holland took a brief moment to address the status of another job offer for a superintendent position.

In an email to the members of the school board on March 3, Holland mentioned the Cuyahoga Heights board of education “offered terms of a contract and wished to enter negotiations for employment.”

The approved on March 5, in a 3-2 vote, to amend Holland’s contract, extending its length and giving him an almost 8 percent boost in benefits -- in an attempt to entice him to decline the job offer.

During the public comments portion of the meeting Monday night, a teacher in the district took a moment to address the board.

Bob Brown has been teaching in the district for the past 27 years and while he said he had no ill feelings toward Holland, he noted his concerns about the district’s leader getting a pay raise at a time when the district is asking voters to approve a levy in May.

“When you have the top paid person getting an 8 to 9 percent raise, that just doesn’t seem right,” he said. “Especially when we’re looking to this community, which I live in, for 50 plus years, to pass a levy. That’s going to put an even bigger burden on those taxpayers.”

At 7: 45 p.m. the board went into executive session with the district's attorney to discuss "employment and/or compensation of public employees".

Holland said he hoped to have a "resolution" by the end of the week.
