This map shows a snapshot ofΒ where the "creative class" in town works. By "creative class," we mean people working inΒ management, business, science, and the arts. The census breaks these workers out separatelyΒ because they haveΒ some of the most important roles in the economy.
Data are from theΒ United States Census Bureau'sΒ 2011 American Community Survey.Β (Note: Census.gov was "unavailable" at the time this article was published thanks to the federal government shutdown.)Β Β These values are an estimate for 2011 taking into account 60 months of collected data.
Using your cursor, you can hover over any census tract β the geographic region defined by the U.S. Census βΒ and see the actualΒ number of creative class workersΒ in the box in the upper right hand corner of the map.
