📰 News we're reading

• Mitchapalooza! (wyso.org) — A new live music night called Mitchapalooza is coming to The Brightside in Dayton on Friday, September 11, 2026, featuring local acts Subterranean, Paid Leave, and Creatures in Clouds. Organized by longtime Dayton promoter Venus Child Productions, the all-ages show offers $10 advance tickets, with doors at 7:30 p.m. and music starting at 8 p.m., indoors or on the patio.

• No evidence of harassment found against local superintendent (wdtn.com) — An independent investigation for the Dayton Public Schools Board of Education found no evidence to substantiate harassment, sexual harassment, or retaliation allegations against Superintendent Dr. David Lawrence. Investigators reviewed his conduct and administrative decisions, concluding that while opinions may differ on management style, the behavior did not meet the threshold for harassment under the allegations examined.

• B Love Foundation provides school supplies to families in need (dayton247now.com) — Families across Dayton just received free backpacks, school supplies, food, and health resources from the B Love Foundation, with help from the Dayton Fire Department and local sponsors. Organizers say it's all about easing financial stress and showing love through action. Another giveaway event is already scheduled in the Dayton area for September 19.
