Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Dayton Student
Star Student Award recognizes students for achievement in and out of the virtual classroom
Katie Mote of Dayton was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s (OCA) Star Students of the Month for May in recognition of her achievements and leadership in the virtual classroom.
Katie, a second grader at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by her teacher Mrs. Haught because of her positive attitude and the effort she puts forth to complete her work. As a Star Student, Katie will be presented a certificate recognizing her achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s website.
Katie came to Ohio Connections Academy when her family moved to Dayton last fall. Her parents believed attending the virtual school would be a better learning environment than a traditional classroom. According to her mother Tamara, the transition was perfect for their family and the school was very helpful during Katie’s first year. She added they feel more involved in their daughter’s education.
