• Infected horse points to West Nile virus activity in Tuscarawas County (timesreporter.com) — Mosquito samples collected in Dover have tested positive for West Nile virus, even though no human cases have been reported in Tuscarawas County yet. Health officials urge residents and horse owners to reduce standing water, consider vaccinations for horses, and report heavy mosquito activity as they continue monitoring and targeting problem areas.
• Fair Auctions Finish Strong Despite Slight Dip in Total Sales (wjer.com) — Tuscarawas County fair auctions wrapped up with more than $1.6 million in total sales, slightly below last year but still a strong show of support for 4-H youth. From Dover, organizers highlighted big gains in the Dairy and Small Animal sales and thanked local buyers who helped reward students' hard work on their projects.
• Ohio Canalway and Appalachian Byway make top-10 list for scenic drives in Ohio (kentucky.com) — Dover is highlighted as one of several historic canal communities along the Ohio & Erie Canalway, recently named a top scenic drive in Ohio. The route runs from Cleveland to New Philadelphia, passing through Dover and nearby towns, giving locals ideas for day trips that showcase canal history, fall foliage, and small-town stops across the region.
