1. Dover needs a new city treasurer (wjer.com) — Dover residents will soon see a new face handling the city’s finances, as longtime treasurer Susan Solvey has retired after 14 years in office. The Tuscarawas County Democratic Central Committee is accepting resumes from Dover Democrats through Oct. 19, then will interview and appoint a replacement who must later run in 2027 to finish the term through 2029.

2. Dover rehabilitation campus to host community trick-or-treat Oct. 23 (yourohionews.com) — Families in Dover are invited to a free community trick-or-treat at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus on East Iron Avenue on Oct. 23. Kids can wear costumes, collect candy from residents, and enjoy cider, pumpkin doughnuts, music, games, and activities, with families asked to RSVP by Oct. 21 so organizers can plan for everyone.

3. Civil War artifacts, Lincoln assassination exhibit at Dover Public Library (yourohionews.com) — All month long, you can explore a Civil War and Lincoln assassination exhibit right at the Dover Public Library on N. Walnut Street. Featuring Tuscarawas County resident Richard West’s artifacts and family connections, the display offers a rare chance to see historic items locally, and residents can even propose their own collections for future exhibits.

4. Kimble, Independence invest in Tuscarawas Co. project creating new jobs (kentucky.com) — A major employer based in Dover, Kimble Company, is partnering with Independence OH, LLC on a new sandstone mining and sand processing operation near Strasburg that’s expected to create about 120 jobs. With construction underway and opening planned later this year, the long-term project will support Eastern Ohio’s energy industry and strengthen the regional economy for many Tuscarawas County workers.

5. H.S. Football Week 7 Scoreboard (yourohionews.com) — Dover football fans can celebrate a 44–22 win over Wooster that keeps the Tornadoes unbeaten in conference play. The scoreboard also lays out Week 8 matchups, including Madison visiting Dover and New Philadelphia’s next game, helping local fans track rivals and plan which Friday night contest to attend.
