Akron's Costumed-5k Run and Children's Trick-Or-Trot to Take Place at Lock 3 Park Sunday, October 26

Akron’s costumed-5k run, Monster Dash, will take place at Lock 3 Park in downtown Akron on Sunday, October 26.


“We are thrilled to provide a fun event that combines both running and Halloween,” said event organizer Katie Greenwald. “Monster Dash is an opportunity for the community to focus on physical fitness and exciting costumes.”


Participants are invited to run with the monsters through this haunted course.

In addition to Monster Dash, event organizers are opening this event to community families with the Kids Fun Run and Trick-Or-Trot.


The Kids Fun Run, a new addition for 2014, will include a course that finishes on the official course finish line and includes a medal for every child who enters. The event free is open for children ages 0 – 12. It will start at 10 a.m.

Trick-Or-Trot is a family-focused trick-or-treating event which includes treats from local community businesses and organizations. This event is free and will take place from 9 – 10:30 a.m.


For Monster Dash, registration is only $20 through September 9, $25 through October 24 or $30 on race day. Event organizers encourage participants to register before October 24 in an effort to save on the day-of registration price increase. Registration, more information and past race photos are available at monster-dash.org.


Registration is required for all events.


Packet pick-up for Monster Dash will take place at Lock 3 Park on Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26. An awards ceremony will be held for multiple age groups beginning at 10 a.m. at Lock 3 Park.
