Fairlawn requires safety plan for right-of-way work (akron.com) — Fairlawn City Council has tightened rules for utility work in city rights-of-way, now requiring detailed safety plans and paid third-party inspections to better protect residents and property. Council also adjusted several city ordinances, heard school district updates, and announced upcoming meter replacements, LED streetlight upgrades, and the next council meeting date and location.
2. Daisy loves outdoor activities, car rides (akron.com) — A playful retriever mix named Daisy is being fostered in the Fairlawn area and is ready for an active family who loves outdoor adventures and car rides. She's housetrained, knows basic commands, and is fully vetted, but needs patient owners who can help her build confidence around loud noises and new people. Interested residents can apply through Rescue 330.
3. Fairlawn Hall of Honor ceremony highlights inductees (sidneydailynews.com) — Fairlawn residents recently honored several community standouts at the Fairlawn Hall of Honor induction ceremony held Aug. 15. Family members accepted awards on behalf of Charles Valentine, Arlen McRill and Yvonne Cummings, while Robert Worthington accepted his own, each briefly speaking about the honorees' lasting impact on the Fairlawn community.
4. James Jeremiah 'Jim' Montalto (akron.com) — Fairlawn-area readers are invited to pay respects to longtime architect and educator James "Jim" Montalto, 102, with calling hours Aug. 27 at Hummel Funeral Home on West Market Street in Fairlawn. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow Aug. 28 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in nearby Copley, celebrating his decades of service, faith, and devotion to family.
