📰 News we're reading

• Fairlawn launches Drones as First Responder program (akron.com) — Fairlawn is rolling out a new Drones as First Responder program, sending police and fire drones to 911 scenes before officers arrive to provide real-time video. City Council also set citywide trick-or-treat for Oct. 25, advanced routine tax measures, and moved ahead on a new subdivision and Fairlawn Country Club tax status, with the next council meeting Sept. 21.

• Young Ducky is outdoor enthusiast (akron.com) — A Fairlawn-area rescue is looking for a local family to adopt Ducky, a 4½‑month‑old beagle-hound mix who loves the outdoors, chew toys, and playing with other dogs. Already neutered, microchipped, and making progress on house and crate training, he's described as affectionate, playful, and easygoing. Interested residents can apply through Rescue 330's website.

• Local beekeepers urge Barberton Council to allow apiaries in city (akron.com) — Barberton officials are considering new ordinances that would legalize and regulate beekeeping, similar to rules already in place in Fairlawn and other nearby communities. Local beekeepers say responsible apiaries protect both residents and vital pollinators. Council also approved several tax, legal, and sidewalk-improvement measures and set upcoming meeting dates that may interest Fairlawn-area residents following regional policy trends.
